About the Event
We invite you to enjoy highlights from ballets such as 2The Nutcracker", "Don Quixote", and "Swan Lake", and be entranced by the music of Tchaikovsky, Minkus and Glazunov while being inspired by the dancers of ABC - Tokyo.
As a special treat this year, they'll take you backstage to the world of classical ballet training and rehearsal, where you7ll see how the magic happens, how dancers balance on a point shoe and how men partner ballerinas. You can even learn the basic arm and feet positions in an interactive part with their director Christian Martinu. This experience promises to bring a whole new dimension to how you will see ballets from now on.
ABC-Tokyo is known for its excellent combination of directors, choreographers, and dancers and has toured both nationally and internationally, including Germany, Switzerland, Austria, China, Brazil, U.S.A., and Australia. The company began as the Austrian Ballet Company in 1995 and became the Austrian Ballet Company - Tokyo in 2004. The company's repertoire has included classical works as well as original contemporary ballets based on Japanese roots. The directors are Christian Martinu and Rio Mitani.
